ALL ABOUT TOMB RAIDER IV-VI REMASTERED

Hello fellow Raiders,

I hope you are all doing amazing. We have some fabulous news to share with you all! More information about the upcoming Tomb Raider IV-VI Remaster have been released.

Due to the extraordinary popularity of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, the team has sought out to bring even more quality of life improvements and even restore unseen content to Tomb Raider : Angel of Darkness!

Capture every epic moment

With these remasters, much like the previous one, Photo Mode is back and you will be able to capture your favorite moments of the games. It includes all the features from previous, plus some new exciting additions too!

You can use the new tool
"Flyby Camera Maker" to create "cinematic" like shots and sequences, empowering the player to take their creativity even further.

Take a look at the powerful tool at hand:

With this tool, you can simply place up to 20 cameras along a path wherever you like, fine-tune your shots by scrolling through your placed camera points and adjust various settings like: Roll, Field-of-View, Zoom, and movement speed and then just hit the play button and see your amazing creation come to life!

Ammo Counter

Another quality of life improvement includes a new Ammo Counter displayed in the corner of your screen, showing you how much ammo you have. This will allow you to be even more careful with your ammo, or strategize accordingly when up against a dangerous foe or even a powerful boss.

Cutscene Skipper

For those who just love playing, and playing and replaying these games, the team at Saber Interactive and Aspyr have introduced the ability to skip in-game cutscenes.
This will give more power and options to the player and is a very welcome addition for players that don't wanna sit through these lengthy sequences again!

New Animations

Lara Croft is renowned for her athletic prowess, elegance and agility, and for that, the team also decided to include some new animations that help you fill out your Croft fantasies!
Here is an in-depth look at what you might expect:

Slide to Run:  Continue running after reaching the end of a slope, simply push forwards at the end of a slope. This works with both Tank and Modern control schemes and is toggleable in the Options menu. This was an unused animation from the original games that we’ve restored for the remaster!

Hang on a ledge (behind): Press the Action (for tank) or secondary (for Modern) button when close to a ledge behind Lara and she will safely step down to it.

Hang on a ledge (front): While walking, press the Action (for tank) or secondary (for Modern) button close to a ledge in front of Lara and she will safely step down to it.

Turn around in place: While walking, press the Roll button while Lara is stopped to make her turn in place. This is for Modern controls only!

Classic Cheat Codes and Achievements

The classic cheat codes and achievements will be making their return! "Whether it’s infinite ammo, skipping levels, or other nostalgic tricks, every cheat from the original releases will work just as you remember. And if your memory needs a little jog, don’t worry—Aspyr’s support site will have a full list of cheat codes available closer to launch. Time to relive those iconic moments with a little extra flair."

The Monstrum Returns

Accused of murdering her former mentor, Werner Von Croy, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness follows Lara Croft as a fugitive, unraveling an intricate web of secret societies locked in a centuries-long shadow war. Though initially divisive, The Angel of Darkness has developed a cult following over the years, with fans becoming digital archaeologists, delving into its cut content and unrealized potential.

Angel of Darkness will unevitable be the star of the show. AOD has been lauded countless times by the community for its' untapted potential, and even though it was released in a flawed state (and sometimes) it can be an infuriating experience, it's one of the most interesting and complex stories of our adventurer Lara Croft.

So when Aspyr announced they would bring AOD into the remasters collection, everyone was curious if this would just be a coat of paint with a few little improvements or a more fleshed out reworking of the original. And now we can surely say that we will be getting even more than we bargained for!

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered aims to realize the full potential of The Angel of Darkness by restoring content originally envisioned for the game. The developers from Saber and Aspyr have focused on reintroducing and retooling elements that fans have long celebrated, enhancing the experience of this cult classic.

Here is a list of some of the restored content included in The Angel of Darkness:

The Controls

As with the previous Remastered games, players can choose between Tank and Modern controls for Angel of Darkness. However, it's encouraged that players use the Modern controls (preferably using a gamepad), as the developers have breathed new life into them. With the Modern controls, Lara feels noticeably more responsive and intuitive to handle.

The camera can now be fully rotated 360 degrees (just like the PS2 version), and Lara can jump in the direction the camera is pointing without needing to adjust her facing before jumping. Not only can now Lara shoot mid-air and perform consecutive jumps, but she can also shoot from around corners in stealth mode.

Kurtis Trent

Kurtis Trent has always been a character of immense untapped potential. As an ex-Legionnaire trained in the ways of the Lux Veritatis, he possesses psychic abilities, including the power to control the discus-like blade known as the Chirugai. Kurtis' movements contrast with Lara's by being heavier and less graceful. While Lara's athleticism and gymnastic abilities give her a lighter, more agile style, Kurtis relies on his mental powers and physical endurance which result in a slower, more deliberate style.

Aside from the obvious makeover, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered restores Kurtis’ ability to wield the Chirugai in-game. While Kurtis prefers using his custom-made Boran X pistol, the Chirugai proves invaluable when he runs out of bullets.
A few additions include Kurtis being able to also project a psychic shield around his body which can be quite useful in a boss battle and a sprint maneuver simular to Lara's and to shoot around corners while in stealth mode.

This means that Saber Interactive is implementing even more things than we hoped for. It appears that beta restored content, like gameplay and level design are being brought back to the game to deliver an undeniable uncompromised and definitive experience.

Unused voice lines, Notebook notes and Inventory items

Various voice lines from Lara and Kurtis have also been restored. This will undoubtedly help the players puzzle out the narrative and provide even more backstory to the events that unfold in the Angel of Darkness.

Werner Von Croy's Notebook, a very important item in Lara's Backpack that helps you with Lara's journey throughout Paris and Prague, now opens automatically the first time Lara wakes up in the derelict railway carriage. Containing crucial story and puzzle-related information, the notebook will feature new entries that are added as the player progresses through the campaign.

Additionally, some inventory items have been restored, such as Von Croy's cane, which holds a secret that can only be unlocked in the inventory.

Parisian Back Streets Training Area

The opening level in Angel of Darkness, Parisian Back Streets, hid an unfinished training area where players could learn the commando crawl ability, which was never taught elsewhere in the game. Players could, however, access the area to explore it using various tools. Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered fully restores this training area, allowing players to choose whether they want to take this route or the one from the original game.

This hints that we might also see different paths and ways to complete certain levels, like the ones that have been uncovered through the years by fans of the franchise.

Purchasable items from the Rennes’ Pawnshop and Herbalist

Daniel Rennes' Pawnshop serves as a front where customers can purchase various items under the counter. In the original game, Lara could sell valuables she found along the way for money; however, aside from bribes, she didn’t have much use for it. Now, Rennes' Pawnshop is the place where Lara can obtain weapons and weapon accessories such as the Silencer and Lasersight, giving players a reason to search the Parisian Ghetto for misplaced Euros.

Similarly, the Willowtree Herbalist now plays a more significant role than simply providing Lara with information. Lara is able to purchase healing items, such as first aid kits and poison antidotes.

And these are just a few of the changes we can expect on February 14.

This is quite the inside look at what we will be getting with these remasters. I am even more excited to see what changes they bring to the table, and of course, I wouldn't have a better date for Valentine's Day than with Lady Croft herself.
